The 2023 Montemarzino is a serious, terroir-driven expression of Timorasso from one of Piedmont’s most traditional producers. Roagna is known for minimal intervention and long aging, and that philosophy clearly shapes this structured and mineral white.
A powerful, structured, and intellectual white wine. Not a simple aromatic expression, but a layered and age-worthy Timorasso that rewards patience and aeration. A compelling example of serious white wine from Piedmont.
Initially reductive, with flinty, smoky notes reminiscent of struck match and wet stone. With air, aromas expand into quince, yellow peach, citrus peel, and subtle wild herbs. There is a clear mineral backbone rather than overt fruitiness.
Medium to full-bodied with firm structure. The wine is linear and architectural, driven by saline minerality and vibrant acidity. The fruit profile leans toward quince, ripe pear, and preserved lemon, balanced by a slight phenolic grip and fine bitterness on the finish. Texture is dense yet precise.
Long, persistent, and slightly austere in youth. The mineral and savory components dominate over primary fruit, suggesting strong aging potential.
