Well-made and actually more complete and deeper than both the 1989 and 1990, the 1988 shares some of the classic lead pencil, mineral, curranty character that is evidenced in the “grand vin.” Spicy and tannic, with fine depth.
Beautiful nose of currant and dark chocolate follow through to a full body, with velvety tannins and a long, fruity finish. I love the texture to this wine. Lots in reserve for aging. Excellent for a second wine.
