The Enate winery is a new step on the road to creativity, Enate’s greatest value. Its space presents an additional challenge. The building had to resolve the concepts of “inside” and “outside” because it both stores and offers. It had to do this because it literally feeds from Somontano. The winery is the physical bridge between the art of the vine and human art.

The winery building was designed in two phases by the well-known Madrid architect Jesús Manzanares. They were opened in 1993 and 1997 respectively. In it, the concept of “surprise” is applied to the point where its industrial volumes conceal a whole world of sensations, with tunnels, spaces defined by zenithal lights, and warm, pleasant materials.

From the very start, the architect captured the strong light of Somontano and brought it inside so that, once you are in it, the sensation of still being outside remains. It is, perhaps, the best example of this interplay between nature and architecture: clean, majestic spaces with pure, modern lines that surprise visitors.

The winery’s modern facilities occupy an area of 12,000 m2. Of this, 1,500 m2 house 4,000 barrels (70% French oak and 30% American oak) and 3,200 m2 are set aside for bottle aging, with capacity for more than 4 million units. The most modern materials suitable for the production process were chosen for its construction.

The art making up Enate’s excellent picture gallery is understood beyond the winery until its essential meaning is reached: the earth itself. As they grow, perfectly integrated into their physical surroundings, Enate’s vineyards offer a substrate similar to canvas. The crop cycle of the vine and the grape, from budding to harvest, creates the colours of Somontano. Green, reddish, purple, ochre and yellowish shades: a delight for the senses which we transfer with care and attention into all our wines.
